Worship Preparation for June 18

June 17, 2017

We are about to make the transition in our study of the Ten Commandments from the first table of the law which speaks to our relationship with God to the second table of the law which speaks to our relationships with each other in the church and with the larger world.  Our natural bent from birth is to focus on the second table of the law.  The end result is that we measure our relatiosnhip with God by our own moral goodness.  The conclusion of many nominal Christians who measure their relationship with God by their good deeds goes soemthing like, "I know that I do not do all these things perfectly, but I work at them and do the the best I can."  Such thinking frankly misses the whole point.  I am praying that God will help us to see this truth on Sunday.  The text is Luke 18:18-30 but the focus is the entirety of Luke 18.  Hope to see you in worship on the Lord's Day.
