Worship Preparation for October 18October 15, 2020
We will be in Matthew 18 and 1 Corinthians 5 this Sunday. Matthew 16 and Matthew 18 are closely connected in Scripture. Jesus gives us in Matthew 16 what our lives look like when we have the right view of who He is and the right view of who we are in relationship to Him. Matthew 18 gives us the right view that we have of one another in the church when we have the right view of who we are in relationship to Jesus. 1 Corinthians 5 makes very clear how a church is to handle persistent, public sin with a person who professes to be a Christian as a member of a local church. We all have to confront a simple truth aobut ourselves that no believer should like or in which we should enjoy indulging: WE ARE SINNERS WHO SIN. WE SIN AGAINST GOD AND AGAINST EACH OTHER. NONE OF US IS IMMUNE SO WE NEED THE WORD OF GOD AND THE GRACE OF GOD TO HELP US DEAL WITH OUR PRIVATE SINS AGAINST EACH OTHER AND OUR PUBLIC SINS. That is what we will examine this Sunday.
