Backpacks for Appalachia

We are once again participating in the Backpacks for Appalachia program with the North American Mission Boards auxillary, Applachian Regional Ministries (ARM)

WMU has purchased the backpacks and you wil soon find them in the fellowship hall along wiht the list of  suggested items to purchase. Once you choose the age of boy or girl you will puchase for, pack and return the backpacks to the fellowship hall and they will be sent to the regional distribution center.


TOYS: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small Etch A Sketch®, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries), game toys, Slinky®, etc.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.

HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (boxed and in a plastic bag), comb, washcloth, etc.

OTHER: hard candy and lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), age-appropriate religious books, Bible, and pop-top cans of food.
